Dear Colleague,
In a job market where employers promise much and too often, deliver too little, I’m hoping to take a different approach – a little openness and honesty.
First and foremost, I’m a veterinarian, just like you… and while I don’t spend as much time in exam rooms anymore, I’m as passionate about our profession as I’ve ever been. It’s a profession I always wanted to be part of, and I believe it can be one of the most rewarding life paths you can choose…. if done the right way. It’s no secret that many in our profession are getting out and many are suffering mentally from debt and other pressures. It’s also true that there is a significant workforce shortage and that many employers are willing to do almost anything to get a live pulse on the floor. That’s not our way.
A few things about us…
We are part of a family of three small animal hospitals, located within an hour of each other outside of Philadelphia, PA in Chester County and Newark, DE. We are owned by two veterinarians, its a family business.
At this size, we’re big enough to offer most of the benefits that the bigger guys can offer while sticking to our small business philosophies.
We use technology to keep our hospital teams connected – Any time you’re seeing patients, there are always at least two other doctors “on the floor” with you to bounce ideas off and share opinions.
We’re family owned, that means you always know who the “boss” is and how to get ahold of me.
We’ve done this for a couple of decades now, that means we know firsthand what it’s like to have a bad job, a bad boss or a bad experience. We try to live with a philosophy of professional empathy.
Everyone has a voice to shape how we do things. It is not a top-down environment and our best ideas have always come from within.
We have bad days, and we make mistakes. But we live by a philosophy that “everything is figureoutable.” And more times than not, we find a solution for the challenges that throw a wrench in our days.
My goal for our employees is the “five year you.” I’m not looking for a body, or someone to burn through until you quit the profession. Our goal is that five years from now, you will consider this the best investment in your career you ever made. Whether it’s growing as a clinical associate, continuing your education or even owning your own practice, we believe it’s good for the entire profession to be part of your journey.
Bells, whistles, toys, we’ve got it all. Compensation and benefits are at or above everyone else in the marketplace. But if any of this hits home for you, let’s talk.
