The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Veterinarian under the general supervision of the Shelter Manager, shall provide involves planning, supervising and participating in medical diagnosis, treatment, and care and evaluation of all animals sheltered by the Animal Care and Control (AC&C) Division. Duties include: emergency medical care of injured or sick animals on a twenty-four hour, seven-day-a-week basis; administering a disease prevention program through preventative inoculation and shelter sanitation; and responsibility for euthanasia of unwanted animals. An individual has considerable latitude for the exercise of independent of judgment and initiative in attaining program goals and in rendering medical treatment.
