Washington State University in Pullman, WA is seeking to recruit an outstanding scientist for a permanent tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the area of infectious diseases. The position is part of a multimillion dollar Functional Genomics Initiative to establish the institution as a leader in the application of genome editing of animals for the advancement of biomedical research and improvement of animal agriculture. The tenure home of successful candidates will be in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Candidates with ongoing or future commitment to disease resistance, the application of gene editing technologies and an interest in food/fiber producing animals, large animal models, and/or poultry are encouraged to apply.
Duties will include maintaining a strong, externally funded research program, teaching in graduate courses in biomedical sciences, and participating in service at the school/department, college, and/or university level. Job requirements include a doctoral degree (PhD, DVM, or MD) in biomedical science or related field is required by the time of hire. A minimum of three years of productive post-doctoral research experience in infectious disease. Candidates at all ranks must have demonstrated abilities in conducting hypothesis-based research and publishing high quality papers in top tier journals, a track record of, or strong potential for, attracting extramural funding, and a history or interest in contributing to high quality graduate and/or veterinary education. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to excellence by providing leadership in research, teaching, or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
