Living Wage Emergency Critical Care Internship Route 66 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Center is looking for two dynamic Interns to participate in our Emergency Critical Care program. Our mission is to create positive change in people’s lives through compassionate care for their pets. With that mission in mind we aim to provide a positive intern experience where our Interns are cared for and provided a living wage. While working as part of our exceptional team you will provide quality veterinary care to our patients. Our amazing team of caregivers are a positive group of people who create an atmosphere of calm even while dealing with the stress of emergency veterinary medicine. Route 66 Vet was created to provide a different experience for clients and employees alike. We aim to give back to our community by providing people with a caring compassionate atmosphere to bring their pets in a time of need. Our practice is expanding as the city of Albuquerque has embraced our hospital and has chosen it as the place for veterinary emergencies. We are expanding our talented team so we can care for our patients and clients while upholding our high customer service and medical standards. The Route 66 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Center is in the trendy Nob Hill neighborhood close to both the University of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratory. We are currently in the process of renovating a new building in a prime Nob Hill location that will enable us to better care for our patients and clients. Albuquerque is a growing city that has an abundance of sunshine. Mountain biking, hiking and world class skiing will be in your back yard! Our cost of living can’t be beat! Our housing market allows for very comfortable living on a purse string budget. Our state-of-the-art, AAHA accredited, facility features digital radiology, endoscopy, advanced patient monitoring, telemetry, ultrasound, ligasure, fully equipped laboratory and entirely electronic medical records. Our technical staff is composed of mainly registered veterinary technicians and assistants with years of emergency experience. Keeping a staffed hospital where our clients are cared for and our veterinarians are supported is extremely important to us. Our vets enjoy a three tech to one doctor ratio. Our internship program provides an intensive one-year experience in emergency and critical care medicine under the mentorship of our medical director and senior clinicians while providing a living wage and exceptional quality of life. Our attending clinicians will support and guide you as you rotate the day, mid and overnight services of a busy emergency hospital, handling a variety of cases. Opportunities for outside rotations will be available to work with a variety of specialists including internal medicine, surgery, oncology and ophthalmology. Extra general surgery experience will be provided working with the local animal welfare department. Time will be granted for elective rotations as well. Didactic training includes daily cage rounds, twice weekly topic rounds, monthly morbidity rounds and journal club. We are looking for and enthusiastic, personable Intern.
