Helmwood Veterinary Clinic is located in Elizabethtown Kentucky, only 45 minutes south of Louisville. We are a well-established small animal clinic that has been serving our local community for over 40 years, and take pride in being one of the select few veterinary hospitals in the state that are AAHA accredited.We are seeking an enthusiastic associate veterinarian to join our team and continue to grow professionally. Our current 4 doctor practice provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care in a fun and team-focused environment. Helmwood Veterinary Clinic has a satellite location, North Hardin Veterinary Clinic, located just 15 minutes away in Radcliff, KY. Our team of doctors and staff rotate to both locations to better serve our community.
Elizabethtown is close to many attractions that Kentucky has to offer but far enough away to keep the hustle and bustle on the low end. We are just 45 minutes away from Louisville, where the Kentucky Derby is held. Also near the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green and not far from Abraham Lincoln’s birth place. The Patton Museum, Freeman Lake, Stephen Foster, and many more historical attractions are close by. There is a small community college, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, nearby.
The Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team. All of our DVM’s are part of the DVM Council. They are involved in the decision-making process for the care we provide. They will play an important role in the advancement of patient care, staff leadership, fiscal financial planning, client satisfaction, and practice growth.
Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns
Performs physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols.
Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
Presents a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
Skills and Basic Qualifications
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.
Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed.
Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Works collaboratively with hospital team members.
Makes decisions confidently and effectively.
Manages time and tasks appropriately.
Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
