St. Francis of Assisi Veterinary Medical Center located in San Antonio, TX is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join our growing team!!
St. Francis of Assisi is a 4-doctor full service general practice founded in 2000 by Dr. Bauml and Dr. Holub. We are a free-standing building with 3000 sq. ft. of treatment area, and 2000 sq. ft. of boarding facility. Renovations planned for the next few months for completion before the end of FY2018, will convert our boarding facility to a state-of-the-art surgery suite with 4 surgery tables, pre-op and post-op areas, isolation room for patients, a closed-in dental suite with 2 wet tables, 3 additional exam rooms for a total of 7, and a separate lobby and exam rooms for our feline patients. St. Francis of Assisi also has an in-house adoption program where healthy stray dogs and cats brought to our clinic and are not claimed in 10 days, will be neutered/spayed, and vaccinated free of charge before they are put up for adoption. Education and training are also big factors to our success. Our doctors mentor our techs so they can be better advocates of our patients. As a result we currently have 3 LVT's, and 3 Certified Veterinary Assistants, with a total of 12 veterinary technicians.

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university.
Licensure in good standing to practice in Texas
Interest in feline care/specialty
Interest in advanced orthopedic surgery

A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine, upholding the veterinary code of ethics.
Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet’s problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccines and appropriate nutritional products.
Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.
Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings and complete at least 30 hours of accredited CE per year.
Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
